- What? November Already?
- November 1st, 2011
Halloween has come and gone, with only a minimal amount of drama.
I'm up at this ungodly hour only because of all the smoke from the outdoor fireplaces making our clothing and costumes smell like a chimney, so I'm doing a lot of laundry to get rid of the stench.
The Westboro insanity has also come and gone, with more than a minimal amount of head scratching. The concept of them being a group of scamming type of lawyers --they come in and protest provocatively so that they can get someone in the counter-group to do something stupid in order to sue the pants off of them-- has gained a whole lot of credence with me. Their commentary alone to the television crew that covered the event bordered on the absolute nonsensical. It's a good thing that we didn't go, or either my wife or I would have potentially done that something stupid. Of course, the school district requested that nobody counter protest or give them the time of day, but there were about 100 counter protesters there anyway, flipping Westboro's signs of "God Hates Fags" with "I Love Fags" and other similar signs of their own.
My wife suspects that the reason why they targeted the local high school was because of their anti-bullying stance, spelled out on the district's website, and a recent news article on the policy. Apparently in the article, someone mentioned that they --as a homosexual-- never felt harassed and that they felt the school district had their back. So there you have it, I suppose.
As you may have guessed, I've been a wee bit busy lately. I do have a few posts to write, so hopefully I'll get to them before all of my beard turns gray.
